R75 CCSA and CCSE Exams Available

It has been reported in a few places that the R75 CCSA and CCSE exams should be available now. I went out to Pearson VUE’s page this morning to verify, and both of the exams are currently available.

IANS Minneapolis 2012

I was at the Minneapolis IANS event last week as a presenter for Tufin Technologies (pronounced ‘two fin’). I have been with Tufin since June of 2011 and have had several conferences that I have spoken at (I also did vendor presentations in the past with Check Point as well). At IANS you get 35 [...]

Say Hello to CPX For Me

I was hoping to meet a few of you at CPX this year. Since I am no longer at Check Point there was actually a chance that I would be able to attend. In the past the whole Tufin US Sales team would be in attendance. A somewhat last minute change was made, and now [...]

R71 CCSA and CCSE Exams are Live

I was looking at the Pearson VUE website last night, and it was showing that the R71 exams were listed, but that they had not been ‘uploaded.’ I checked back this morning and apparently they have finished the upload, as you can now register for them.

Passed the R70 CCSA Exam Today

Check Point is requiring some of its SEs to get certified in our products. Crazy idea huh? Anyways, I have passed plenty of Check Point exams in the past, and the one I did today was for R70. Having access to the official training materials is a big plus as there really is [...]

Explaining What Happens on a Network

From time to time I find myself in the position of explaining the type of work that I do to people who are not in IT (holiday parties, relatives, etc). I sometimes just have to say my line of work is “computer security.” From there you usually get questions about a suspicious email they received, [...]

TFTPD32

Was working on an HP DL380 in my lab, and needed a quick way to setup a DHCP server so that I could get an IP on the iLo module. That’s when I found this cool Open Source utility:

TFTPD32

This little app has a TFTP Server, TFT Client, DHCP Server, and Syslog Server. So [...]

Back from Tufin training in Dallas

I was down in Dallas last week attending a Tufin Securetrack training session. I have to say I was really impressed with the capabilities of this tool. I always liked the idea of what Firemon was trying to accomplish, but never saw it perform very well (if at all) in a production environment.

Think of [...]

Dell R610 added to R70 HCL

Just a quick note here, mainly for some of my customers. The Dell R610 has been added to the Check Point Open Server HCL. Looks like it is only for R70 at this point and no word if support for R65 will be added.

Can I view my ASA logs in Tracker?

This was a question I had in a recent meeting with a large Fortune 100 company. They were traditionally a strong Check Point customer, but a shift in upper management forced them to take on 50+ Cisco ASAs. This was really unfortunate because their team’s Check Point knowledge was very strong and their experience with [...]
