I had a customer whose 12600 recently went bad. Check Point RMA’d the unit, and we had the replacement the next day. The original had extra RAM (Check Point supplied…of course), so I was able to open the appliance…and take some pictures.

Notice there are two CPUs on this unit which corresponds with the information Tobias Lachmann’s page.

2 x CPUs

…and the 500GB Hard Drive

500 GB
500 GB

Here are some details on the CPUs from this actual unit:

less /proc/cpuinfo
processor       : 0
vendor_id       : GenuineIntel
cpu family      : 6
model           : 44
model name      : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU           E5645  @ 2.40GHz

One other point of interest, you void the warranty by opening the device. However if you need to perform the official RAM upgrade, you will get several new “tamper-proof” stickers to replace the originals.
